16.10.2015 NBC News reporter Ayman Mohyeldin was corrected on-air yesterday after a live report that implied a Palestinian terrorist who charged at officers brandishing a knife didn’t have a weapon on him. Amid a disturbing series of stabbing attacks this month, there was another attempted stabbing near the Damascus Gate yesterday. The man charged at police officers with a knife and they fatally shot him. Mohyeldin reported live on MSNBC Wednesday morning that he and the NBC News team had a good vantage point and they did not see anyone getting stabbed “at the time of this incident.” He said the man who approached the police was shot after ignoring multiple warnings.

15.10.2015 YONKERS - Rockland County fire officials and first responders say the safety of dozens of privates schools and yeshivas across the county may be at risk due to expired safety measures. For the past four months, News 12 has made visits to private schools throughout the town of Ramapo and Spring Valley to check whether the schools' fire safety compliance records are up to date. Out of the 45 schools visited, a staggering 90 percent had records that were either expired, missing or school officials refused to show them. Every school, whether public or private, is supposed to get annual safety inspections and post a compliance record to prove the school is safe for children. On Tuesday night, the Spring Valley fire captain and Tarrytown Rabbi Justin Schwartz took the microphone at the Ramapo School Board meeting, warning that a disaster is just waiting to happen. Rockland emergency services coordinator Gorden Wren says that roughly 60 out of the county's 88 schools are not compliant, including a yeshiva operating out of a single-family home on Highview Road. Annette Doer, who lives next door to the school, says there are probably about 200 boys in the four-bedroom house. School officials told News 12 that they think they are doing the best they can.

31.07.2015 Reb Gedaliah Mazal witnessed the arrival of the Rebbe's father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, in Khazakhstan. He had been exiled there by the Soviets for the crime of spreading Judaism, but defiantly continued to speak out against the evil regime. Reb Mazal describes the impact his bearing had on all who saw him, his continued activism, and the scene of his passing on the 20th of Av. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson was considered one of the greatest Talmudic and Kabbalistic scholars of his generation. He served as the chief rabbi of the city of Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, during the bloody Bolshevik revolution and the subsequent Communist oppression. Despite terrible persecution directed at religious leaders in those days, he remained fearlessly defiant in strengthening Jewish learning and practice in his city and throughout the Soviet Union. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak was eventually arrested, tortured, and subsequently banished to exile in a remote village in Kazakhstan. His spirit, however, was not extinguished, even while his body was broken and eventually gave way to his early passing. From Living Torah Volume 143 Program 569
